Successful merging of different databases
The year 2022 has started well for JEM-id. In April 2021, we entered into a partnership with a large client to merge different databases into one, overarching database. After an intensive period in which 'mutual communication' and 'cooperation' are the key words that characterize the project, the project successfully went live in the second week of January. With the project, JEM-id has set up a structure that makes it possible for the client in the future to easily link with customers and suppliers.
Background of the project
The company has started to focus on the joint processing of products and can therefore enter into more effective collaboration with customers and suppliers. Due to various physical changes, the technical background no longer matched the physical front.
By merging the various databases into one joint database, JEM-id ensures that the client can easily link with external parties in the future. These links will be set up via one and the same structure, so that they can also be updated more easily at the locations. This process also applies for follow-up developments, as a result of which the client has taken a major technical step towards future proofing.
One database, separate insight per product brand
JEM-id has developed a solution that keeps the financial insight per product separate. This has been made available in the system by means of 'Business Units', so that the desired overview for the products remains available internally. Converting all data into a working, new situation has resulted in minimal impact for users, while maximum possibilities have been created for the client.
Jeroen Nibbering, product owner GreenCommerce at JEM-id, supervised the project from start to finish: “To realize this project, various development sprints and user sessions were organized by JEM-id to achieve the desired result. Various target groups are involved in the project; from sales department, grower and administrative employees to external technical partners. The scope of the project is huge and therefore very unique.”
