Sessions to further strengthen collaboration with service providers

In the fresh produce industry, parties performing service activities are increasing. These service providers can perform various activities, such as product repackaging, ripening, storage or cooling. Service providers are also playing an increasingly important role within GreenCommerce's customer base. In this conversation with Michelle Vijverberg, Product Specialist at jem-id, we talk about the challenges and opportunities for these service providers and how we at GreenCommerce are dealing with them.

"Last year we developed extensions for service providers in the area of file creation and to support billing. This was an important part of the 2022 roadmap." begins Michelle. "With these developments, a foundation has been laid to provide more insight into the activities they perform. But to establish a good solution that supports multiple ways of working, we were missing first-hand information."

By engaging with service providers from their own customer base and beyond, a clear picture of service providers' current challenges could be drawn. Michelle continues: "That was important to determine the common thread. Ultimately, we want to create a solution that can provide a solution for as many service providers as possible."

There have been several meetings recently where service providers have been able to share their experiences. "We have been able to share our vision and indicate what developments have already been made. By testing these early in the process with the target group, we have found that we are moving in the right direction. However, there are also many exceptions that we need to address. The basis is there, but there is still more to be gained. So because of these new insights, we still face a number of choices."

Current developments relate to building a file in which services can be documented more easily. This file is created by default with a purchase order, which can be used to process batches from clients bundled together. "The new service template offers more insight into the various activities performed for a client, such as quality inspections, ripening or reporting in goods. Here you have an overview of a group of services together in one place. Besides simplifying input, you can also add multiple services to a purchase order at the same time. During such a discussion, several opportunities emerge that we had not previously considered. So you see that by working together, interesting subjects are found that otherwise would have passed us by." concludes Michelle.
