Logistic progress real-time available with the Insights App
Digital displays that show important (logistical) information on the work floor. The subject of Warehouse Information Provision on the GreenCommerce roadmap is getting more solid. In the first quarter of 2023, a research was initiated into the possibilities and applicability, after which the green light was given to develop the Insights App. This brand new App will manage the information centre for various logistics purposes. This includes dock and cell occupancy, reception times, production progress and much more.
The processes in a fresh produce warehouse are becoming increasingly complex. Companies are getting bigger and volumes are increasing. Real-time information provision is therefore a must for efficient processes. Within GreenCommerce we already have various applications that meet this need, such as the WMS App, Production App and the Transport App. Soon we will be able to add a new App to the portfolio: the Insights App.
The Insights App is intended to run on (large) digital displays showing important information about the logistics progress. This way, employees on the floor and third parties, such as drivers, are always informed of changes and progress. With this, companies take the next step towards paperless working while the internal information provision is taken to a higher level. Dave Willems, software developer at jem-id: “Because the status of processes can be found in one clear place, you no longer have to search for an update in different applications. This promotes speed in the workplace.”
The screens can be rotated as a carousel or as a single screen, depending on the configuration done through settings in the Insights App. Information will automatically jump after a few seconds, making changes visible in real time. With a KCB or phytosanitary inspection, a characteristic is shown in the form of a red exclamation mark. This way, the people on the floor immediately know which actions are still required before the shipment can take place. The information that is displayed can be partly composed according to your own wishes via the management.
Toni van Bergenhenegouwen, software developer at jem-id, starts about the research: “The current Apps environment is company-related; you must first log in. This is also desirable for the management part, but it is not desirable for the presentation on the screens. In the workplace you do not want to have to log in every time and there is not always a keyboard available. After extensive research we came up with the idea of the Device registration; a construction in which a connection can be made with the Insights App via a link code. This allows us to guarantee security and the display is linked to the company, without having to log in every time.”
The displays can be divided into both a single and multi-dock layout, where with the multi-dock layout several docks can be displayed on one screen. Toni: “In the future we want to add more layouts to the options. For example, we will soon start on a new layout for (warehouse) overview screens.”
Dave adds: “The project is divided into several phases, with us currently in the final development sprint for the delivery of a first version. We hope to be able to test the screens with a number of customers soon. A demo will be organized for interested companies, so that they can get a good idea of the Insights App.”
