After a number of successful projects and a long collaboration with Growers United, the PapriCo location in Zwaagdijk also indicated at the beginning of this year that it wanted to start with GreenCommerce. After several months of preparations, new developments and links with machine manufacturers Viscon and Aweta, the software went live within the pre-agreed planning. An implementation of this impact requires extremely close cooperation with all parties involved. The maximum commitment of all parties ensured the great success of this cooperation.
In July 2022, Growers United began building a new DC in Zwaagdijk, especially for packing and sorting their block peppers. Because of the good experiences with jem-id, the software company from Honselersdijk was now also allowed to digitize the hall in North Holland with GreenCommerce.
Growers United new building in Zwaagdijk
For the new packaging center in Zwaagdijk, it is important that all machines and software can work together. For example, it was important that the sorting and flowpacking lines were integrated with GreenCommerce, so that they could be easily controlled from the office. For this, jem-id has realized various links with machine manufacturers like Viscon and Aweta.
Complexity due to different links
In addition to the new sorting line and fully integrated internal logistics, Growers United runs their internal processes with GreenCommerce. To control and record activities in the DC, the Production App and WMS App are used. All communication between Growers United's salespeople and the packaging company is accessed through FreshBabel, jem-id's standard communication platform. A cloud integration platform has been developed for internal information exchange. This provides machine manufacturers such as Viscon and Aweta with information and employees in the office with direct insight into the production process. Patrick Sannes, Business Unit Director Factory Intelligence at Viscon, is enthusiastic about the cooperation: "Integrating the processes on the production floor with GreenCommerce was a top priority. The data exchanged between the various systems must always be in sync. Because such close cooperation was established from the beginning, we did not experience any setbacks in this."
Mark Borst, CEO PapriCo, says: "People with practical experience work at jem-id and this is reflected in the solutions chosen. In addition, they have been working in the fresh produce industry for years, which allows us to switch quickly together and not have to explain too much about the processes. There is a reason we have been working with applications from jem-id for over 10 years.''
Collaborate with each other more often
The DC has now been running the software for several months and no significant defects have been found since going live. All feedback for improvement have been picked up immediately by the parties involved so that the software works smoothly.
Patrick concludes: "This project with jem-id and Growers United is an example of how I would always like to do projects. From Growers United the assignment was clearly formulated, which ensured that we were able to give it a good interpretation as a whole The flexibility of all parties involved ensured the great success of this collaboration. Since this project, I have already recommended jem-id several times to companies in the industry. I hope that we can work together more often in the future."
