Control over the fust registration

Many companies in the fresh produce industry deal with different types of packaging/fust on a daily basis, such as packaging materials and pallets. Having both your own fust stock under control and the stock that is stored with other parties is one of the subjects that are highly valued within the sector. In addition to companies that keep physical stock themselves, there are also a large number of companies that purchase fust and packaging and then have it used by an external party for the packaging process. The newly developed fust module in GreenCommerce ensures that both types of companies have full control over the entire packaging stock and the associated financial value.

For the time being, many companies keep their fust stock in their own separate system, while according to JEM-id this can be a good and integrated part of GreenCommerce. The experiences gained from the existing basic module have been combined with a number of renewed insights in order to completely set up the fust registration within GreenCommerce.

One of the most important changes compared to the previous set-up is that the registrations are done at “batch level”. With this solid basis, tracking and tracing is guaranteed so that the requirements regarding food safety and the ability to perform recalls can be met. In addition, the registration of batches offers a good starting position when changes take place in the sector and exact tracing of used fuust is required. Well-known functionalities such as purchasing, sales and production have been thoroughly renewed and new functionalities with regard to delivered fust, transport (to customers and other locations), order picking, and loaded packaging stock have been added. It has also been made possible to keep track of outstanding balances for suppliers, customers and carriers.

For whom?
In principle, fustregistration is an interesting subject for any company active in the fresh produce industry. The module is set up in such a way that the various processes related to fust all connect with each other. Obviously, it differs per company which parts of the whole are interesting and applicable.

For example, it can be considered that a company that is heavily involved in production, benefits greatly from real-time insight into the physical stock. A trading company, on the other hand, may benefit much more from a clear insight into open and outstanding fust balances, so that there is control over what is delivered and what is returned.

What can we do with it?
The module is divided into various parts, each of which contributes to the total management of fust stock. In addition to standard functionalities such as purchasing and sales, there are a number of interesting components that ensure that the fust stock can be optimally managed. One of the most important features is that the physical stock is always written off FIFO. Because batches of fust are purchased quite large, the FIFO deduction from the stock is a realistic reflection of what is actually happening. In time, a FIFO method can be abandoned and an exact registration by means of batch assignments could be chosen.

Master data
In the master data, fust can be managed as “elements”, whereby it can be indicated per element whether the stock is kept up to date. In addition, the specific price agreements with suppliers and customers, and any preferred supplier, can be set in advance.

Purchases and receipt
Fust can be purchased via purchase orders and delivered to various locations. A batch is reserved per order line with the supplier's reference data. The stock is being increased administratively so that it is clear what the expected stock is. The registration of the receipt takes place when the goods actually arrive, this is accompanied by an increase in the physical stock.

Sell and schedule for transport
Sales orders allow fust to be sold from different locations to different customers. Here too, the stock is already written off administratively, until the moment the order is picked and shipped. After the sale has been created, the order lines can therefore also be added to loading schedules to instruct logistics.

Production
Production is perhaps the most variable process in terms of fust stock. By scheduling production orders in the system, the fust stock shows the impact on the stock. As soon as the production process starts, the physical stock per produced pallet is written off so that the stock is correct in real time. An integral part of GreenCommerce is the master data of items and pallet packaging used to control production. Within this data it is also possible to indicate for specific items that certain fust is supplied by another supplier and is not charged to the company's own stock.

Shipment
Now that sales of fust can be scheduled for shipment, it is also possible to register the logistics processing so that the physical stock is updated. In addition to the fact that shipments can be handled via the GreenCommerce application, the scanning application has also been expanded so that the shipments of fust can be handled quickly and easily.

Relocate between locations
When there are several stock holding locations with fust, it is interesting to be able to move stock between these locations. Just like the items, the fust can also be relocated. An order is given for relocation, which is then physically handled via the shipments.

Order picking
Not all pallets in a warehouse are shipped one-by-one, but are also regularly set up and stacked. The actions that are carried out in the warehouse are very important to register properly and to have the correct influence on the physical stock. For example, stacking a pallet empty ensures that physical stock becomes available again, while destacking can result in a pallet less available.

Insight into “loaded fust”
Another important fact is that purchased goods also arrive on a load carrier (such as pallets). In fact, the active pallets in a warehouse occupy all fust. The same applies to purchased fust, which can also be delivered on specific carriers. By combining active pallets with product and received fust, a realistic representation of the “loaded fust” that is present at a location is given.

In addition, goods are also repackaged through the production process, which releases reusable fust (crates, pallets, ...) and must be physically booked back into stock.

Deliveries and returns
Financial processing (read: purchasing) does not always take place for certain fust, but only the flow of goods is important to register. Being able to register the incoming and outgoing fust is important to ensure that the total stock is accurate.

Keep track of balances for business partners
Regular agreements are made between companies and suppliers, customers and transporters to keep track of the outstanding balance of specific fust. This is often accompanied by the fact that there is no financial transaction involved in the delivery or return of fust, but it is important to know what the balances are per individual relationship. For each type of fust you can set for which relations the balance must be kept, after which the fust balances are updated for each incoming and outgoing physical flow.
