Process of certifications optimized in GreenCommerce in collaboration with Marni Fruit
In cooperation with Marni Fruit, new developments have been made in the processing of certificates and certifications in GreenCommerce. A number of developments were required for a seamless integration. These developments became a big part of the Tomato quarter release of GreenCommerce.
Marni Fruit is an import/export company of fresh produce and is specialized in mixed pallets. With their own growers association and a large conditioned distribution center in Barendrecht, Marni Fruit is one of the bigger players in the market. Recently they started an implementation process with GreenCommerce. With the plan to go live with the fresh produce software at the beginning of 2022. “We had the feeling that jem-id was a company that was open to good adjustments to the GreenCommerce package, such as certifications and adjustments in the area of customs. This is also confirmed in the Tomato release”, said Marco Keijzer of Marni Fruit about the choice for GreenCommerce.
With the new developments, the focus was mainly on the recording, registration and inspection of supplier certifications and corresponding customer requirements.
Breakdown into different phases to provide structure
The developments were split into different phases. The first phase focused on functionalities for recording certifications for suppliers, with the flexibility to do item-level operations. The certifications are made transparent and an adjustable blocking effect can be activated to ensure that it is not possible to purchase if a supplier does not comply with certifications.
An extension was also added that allows quality control staff, during the receiving of goods, to have insight into certification status of the suppliers of the goods.
Phase 2 focused on customer requirements for certifications. Functionalities were added to ensure that filtering can be carried out to leave out unsuitable stock (according to certifications); both for production and sales. The new developments will bring many benefits to Marni Fruit: “We have better insight into the certifications of all suppliers. This is becoming an increasingly important part of our operational management. Food safety and food defense are very important to Marni Fruit. We can better guarantee this through GreenCommerce", says Marco.
Industry Challenges - Global G.A.P. Chain of Custody (CoC)
Because certain products go through an order multiple times or are booked in different consumptions, it became challenging to guarantee 100% coverage of the CoC. That is why developments have been added within GreenCommerce that can make the tracing of products via GGNs more transparent.
New possibilities have been created to gain better insight into GGNs when assigning and in stock management. This process starts with purchasing. By introducing a producer to GreenCommerce, developments also allows grower information to be recorded. This includes PUC codes, grower codes and GGNs. It also regularly happens that suppliers purchase their products from different growers. In order to maintain a good overview, GreenCommerce has now also created the option to indicate which producers and product locations (with PUC or grower code) can belong to a relationship.
Batches can now be split under one purchase order line, making it unnecessary to create a separate purchase order line per GGN. This creates more overview in the purchase order screen, while more information can be recorded. In addition, we have made it possible to make a suggestion based on GGN when assigning batches. By highlighting batches with a green or red color, the system automatically displays the most suitable batch based on the entered sales requirements. By whitelisting specific GGNs, Marni Fruit records in the sales requirements which GGNs are suitable for which customer(s), and vice versa blacklists if a GGN turns out to be unsuitable.
Stock insight and processing through multi-company tool
In addition to the developments in the area of certifications, there are also possibilities added for stock insight and processing when working multi-company. This provides insight into what the other company has in stock. Multi-company is a module of GreenCommerce that makes it easy to work with multiple companies side by side in one system, while keeping the administration separate.
Employees learn how to work with GreenCommerce through training.
The go live of GreenCommerce at Marni Fruit was planned on January 1st, 2022. In preparation for that, Marni Fruit followed various GreenCommerce trainings so that the staff was already familiar with the fresh produce software. The training courses were given on location by an employee of jem-id and were experienced as very positive by both parties. Marco: "The training courses were well received by our employees; they see the possibilities with GreenCommerce and are enthusiastic. By clicking along on a laptop in GreenCommerce during the course, they get the feeling right away. It is experienced very positively and we see that "doing" is better than just listening."
